Virtues of Surah Al-Baqara

Virtues of Surah Al-Baqara

Surat Al-Baqarah has great virtues as it was reported from our prophet Muhammad

may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and it was sent down in madina.

And it revealed in different periods, and it is the first surah revealed in Madina,

except for the saying of God Almighty: “And beware of the Day when you shall be returned to God.” Then

it was recited.

It is the last verse that came down from heaven in the Farewell Pilgrimage,

second arrangement in the Qur’an after surah fatihaas well as the verses of usury,  its verses 286,and it is

One of the form the virtues of surah Al-Baqarah

;the one who reds it no harm will happen to him even form people or jin

abū Umāma said I heard ALL messenger say, “Recite the Qur’ān, for on the day of resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it. Recite the two shining ones, Baqara and sūra Āl Imrān (Qur’ān, 2 and 3). for on the day of resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks* pleading for those who recite them. Recite sūra al-Baqara, for using it produces blessing and abandoning it produces regret, and the slothful are

unable to  recite it.” *The alternative may indicate that the transmitter was not sure which word was used, “clouds” or “shades”

; Among the virtues of Surat Al-Baqarah is

also that it contains two verses Whoever recites them on a night will suffice him

as it was proven in Sahih Al-Bukhari and others, Abu Mas’ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet said:  “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah at night, it will suffice him.

Virtue of Ayat al-Kursi Which is the greatest Ayah in the Quran

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Abu Mundhir! Do you know which Ayah in Allah’s Book is the greatest?” I replied: “It is ‘Allah la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayum (Allah! none has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living…)’.” (2:256) Thereupon he (ﷺ)

patted me in the chest and said, “Rejoice by this knowledge, O Abu Mundhir!”

Also, Surat Al-Baqarah contains the verse of the Kursi, which was narrated by Abu Hurairah – may God be pleased with him – on the authority of the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – that he said: “When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn”.
